Comfort Measures during birth

I myself have three wonderful children, and it's been such an amazing adventure for my husband and I. I never tire of hearing about people's experiences and birth stories. I find it fascinating how one moment in life can be so different to so many people. I decided to become a Doula because I had a strong desire to help other mothers and fathers enter into parenthood with confidence and ongoing support. Looking back on my first birth experience I wish I had a Doula, someone to tell me what I was experiencing was normal and to support me throughout any difficulties that should arise. As your Doula I am confident you can have the birth experience that you and your family are looking for. Things can happen, and birth plans can change but as your Doula I can support you through the changes if they arise.
I have had the pleasure of encouraging woman to recognize this strength and believe in themselves and I can only hope that these moments continue.

"Birth is not only about making babies, but the making of mothers. Strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength." ~ Barbara Katz Rothman |
Julie’s Doula services were invaluable during my birth. I mostly laboured at home, so she was my sole resource for pain management and position changes to help labour progress. I was particularly appreciative that she was open to schedule changes when things were progressing quickly and I needed her to arrive earlier than expected!
She jumped right in with comfort measures, and was always open to changing it up if things stopped working. She further helped with the transition to the hospital, and she worked in perfect sync with my midwives and husband as I delivered my baby. She was attentive to the situation, and her techniques changed depending on my needs in the moment. When I think back on my birth experience, it was a bit of a whirlwind. I’m so glad I had Julie there to help relieve me from all practical responsibilities (remembering my glasses, helping with my bags, and even registering at the check-in desk while I went to my hospital room!) so I could concentrate on my labour.
Julie’s kind and professional demeanour was wonderful and I would highly recommend her services to anyone!
